What is an attention market?
An attention market is a system where participants allocate scarce resources to compete for visibility.
Cloppity applies this idea to short-form video. Creators submit public YouTube Shorts, TikToks and Instagram Reels. Fans and supporters can BOOST clips with money. Stronger active backing moves clips higher on the Global Board. Backing loses ranking strength over time, so visibility remains contestable rather than permanently owned.
Attention is scarce
The top of any leaderboard or feed has limited visible space. Not every clip can hold #1 at once. Cloppity makes competition for that space explicit: rank is public, and the Global Board shows who currently holds it.
Money is the ranking signal
On Cloppity, likes, followers, views and platform engagement do not determine rank. BOOSTing does. Each confirmed payment contributes to a clip's CURRENT PRICE, and higher CURRENT PRICE wins higher rank.
Money on Cloppity is an allocation signal, not a quality score. A higher rank does not mean a clip is better, more popular, or more deserving — only that someone chose to back it with money right now.
Time prevents permanent ownership
Without decay, accumulated spending could let early incumbents remain dominant indefinitely. Cloppity backing loses ranking strength over time, so rank is temporary rather than permanently owned. Money moves you up. Time pulls you down.
How this differs from a social feed
Social feeds rank content with recommendation algorithms. The rules are opaque, and users cannot see exactly what moved a clip up or down.
Cloppity uses an explicit public scoreboard. Rank depends on CURRENT PRICE, and the rules are visible. Users can see what affects rank.
A SCOREBOARD, NOT A FEED.
How this differs from likes and upvotes
Likes and upvotes are low-cost popularity signals. Anyone can tap once at no personal cost.
Cloppity uses money as a scarce allocation signal. BOOSTing requires a real payment. The two measure different things; Cloppity does not claim one approach is objectively better.
How this differs from an ad auction
Cloppity is not a conventional ad network or impression auction. Participants compete for visible leaderboard rank on the Global Board, not for guaranteed impressions, clicks, views, conversions, or ad inventory.
Paying to BOOST a clip moves its rank on Cloppity. What happens on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or anywhere else is outside this product.
Why Cloppity uses decay
Time-based decay is a deliberate design choice:
- It keeps the board dynamic instead of frozen.
- It prevents permanent lock-in by historical spend alone.
- It allows later challengers to compete for top spots.
- It makes rank depend on active backing — CURRENT PRICE — rather than lifetime total spend alone.
Cloppity as an example
Cloppity is a money-ranked video leaderboard and an experiment in turning attention into an explicit, time-sensitive competition.
